چکیده

The damping ratio is a key indicator of structures susceptability to human discomfort due dynamic loads. Computational models, wind tunnel studies and empirical data can provide estimates the structure. However, only true way investigate structure through modal identification using from field tests carried out on full-scale finished This paper investigates efficacy three methods for estimating first two modes ambient data. considered are Bayesian Fast Fourier Transform (BFFT), Random Decrement Technique (RDT), hybrid RDT which decomposes into sub signals Analytical Mode Decomposition (AMD) referred as AMD-RDT. Each method applied case in order accuracy their estimates. study experimental involves excitation scaled model shake table; second considers computational tall building under simulated It was found that AMD-RDT superior estimation, particularly estimation mode, even when were closely spaced. length time series used noise within seen affect studied.

Identification of Dynamic Damping Properties of a Flexible Structural Adhesive

In this paper dynamic damping properties of a nominated flexible structural adhesive have been identified using an extended-direct modal based joint identification method. It has been revealed that damping characteristics of adhesive are correlated to both frequency and mode shape. Young’s and shear moduli increase with frequency but damping on the other hand, decrease. The results showed that ...

Viscous vs. Structural Damping in Modal Analysis

It is shown that among the various damping mechanisms that are generally encountered in a mechanical structure, only the “viscous component” actually accounts for energy loss. The remaining portion of the damping force is due to non-linearities, which do not dissipate energy. Consequently, a linear model of a vibratory mechanical system involves only viscous damping, although the damping factor...

Damping Estimation using Operational Modal Analysis

It has been observed that even though modal frequencies are well estimated using Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) techniques, damping estimation is not as accurate. The opinions on this aspect of OMA have been widely varying and no consensus or definite answers are available. In this paper the OMA procedure, data processing and modal parameter estimation, is studied with respect to proper dampi...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Tire Inflation Pressure Estimation Using Identification Techniques

In this research study, one of the most crucial automotive engineering problems is intended to be solved. The necessity of tire pressure monitoring system is beyond doubt. Such systems are now provided relying on expensive sensors. In this study an indirect tire pressure monitoring system is proposed, utilizing identification techniques, which will reduce the cost of monitoring considerably in ...
